Launch of the EU-Africa Partnership on Infrastructure

| In short | After the launch of the EU-Africa Partnership on Infrastructures held on the 24th of October 2007 at the African Union Headquarter, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the European and African partners adopted the resolution n°1 (2007), in which they confirmed the Partnership’s vision. In this resolution, the partners approved the principles (draft) of the Steering Committee and confirmed the goals and objectives of this Partnership EU-Africa on Infrastructures. The resolution led to the nomination of the European Commission (EC) and the Commission of the African Union (AUC) as the co-presidents of the Steering Committee until the next meeting. The Infrastructures and Energy Department of the African Union Commission was designated as the Secretariat of the Steering Committee coordinator. The Launch of the Partnership ended the day before by a Joint Declaration of the AUC and the EC. This Declaration confirmed the general principles of this Partnership aiming to interconnect the African Continent in the following main areas: transports, water, energy and Information and Communication Technologies.
