Full text

UbuntuNet Alliance for Research and Education Networking is a regional member-owned organisation whose mission is to secure affordable high speed regional and international connectivity as well as efficient ICT access and usage for African NRENs.

Established in 2005, the Alliance celebrates its 5th year of existence, a year really fruitful to its growth and the achievement of its objectives. In terms of NRENs, the Alliance has witnessed the expansion of its membership to include Ethiopia and SomaliREN.

With the work done within the framework of the FEAST Project and the efforts of the NREN CEOs and the Alliance, great progress was made towards the compliance required for NRENs to participate in AfricaConnect.

Concerning research, the Alliance continued to be consortium member in the EU FP7 GLOBAL project and joined a new Consortium, ERINA4Africa.
